Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a computerised programme designed to encourage children to read more.

The programme combines ICT, literacy and comprehension skills. Pupils select a novel to read from the school library. This novel will already have been catalogued into the Accelerated Reader programme. On completion of the book the pupil takes a computerised comprehension test. Points are awarded when a test has been successfully completed.

It has proved to be very popular among the pupils and as a result fosters self motivated learning.

Parents can access information in relation to their own children’s reading progress through the Pupil Reading Profile Page on their class blog. Parents are able to see what books their children are reading and how they are getting on with the AR tests. Parents may log in to the Pupil Reading Profile Page using their own child’s log in details.
