What languages do we speak in Clarecastle National School?
Fifth and Sixth Classes are continuing their programme “Say Yes to Languages”. Miss Casey’s class carried out a survey of the school to find out what languages are spoken by families in our school. Everyone was surprised to see how many there were! They also found out how to say hello in each language.
The aims of the programme are to:
- Generate awareness among pupils of the range of languages used by their peers in their schools and communities which may help support greater inclusion and appreciation of diversity in society
- Encourage uptake of languages at post-primary level.
- Provide opportunities for increased levels of collaboration among the school community with regard to the celebration of languages and cultures.
